How to increase conversion rates?

Being a seller means nothing if you don’t have any buyers. So how can you increase traffic to your listings? These are eBay’s tips on increasing conversion rates and making your online business a success.

Use the Promoted Listings tool

Boost your item’s exposure amongst billions of listings at an ad rate that you control. Your listing will be displayed across a variety of prime spots and platforms which means a higher rate of being discovered by your target audience. Find out more here.

Offer free shipping

Research has shown that offering Free Shipping can boost your conversion rate by 12%! eBay’s search algorithm prioritises listings with Free Shipping. So listings that fulfil this criteria are more likely to show up higher and more prominently on the search results page. Find out more here.

Ensure a high quality listing

Follow eBay’s listing best practices to draw in buyers. When a potential customer can see and understand your item’s attributes clearly and in detail, it promotes interest and a possible sale. Ensure your listing has sharp photos from multiple angles, clear item specifics, descriptions & identifiers and effective listing titles.

Price your item competitively

Buyers will always compare listings between sellers to ensure that overall, they are getting the best deal. The lowest price does not always win. You will need to ensure you are offering the best package to make that sale. Check out other sellers with similar products in different sites to get an idea on how you should price your item. Sell high demand items

When you sell an item no one is looking for, it is unlikely you will make a sale. Research your market thoroughly for insights on what’s hot and what’s not. eBay offers a handy service called Terapeak, a tool that shows you how products and categories are performing across all of eBay’s marketplaces.

Send offers to interested buyers

If a buyer watches your item or adds it to their cart, you can send them special offers. Here’s how:

Step 1: Go to Seller Hub > Listing

Step 2: Select Send offer beside the eligible item or Eligible to send offers (if you’re using Seller Hub).

Not all listings are eligible. Eligibility is determined by a number of factors, including age of listing, listing format, and rules that manage the number of offers buyers receive. Items must also have been in the buyer’s cart for at least 2 days.

Step 3. Select an offer price.

The amount must be at least 5% less than the Buy It Now price for items under $200, 3% for items between $200 and $1,000, and 2% for items over $1,000. Shipping will not be included in this price.

Step 4: In Seller Hub, if you don’t want to let buyers counter your offer, select Don’t allow counteroffers.

Step 5: Add a message to buyers.

Step 6: Select Send offer to buyers.

Interact with your watchers

Offer buyers watching your item a reduced price. They will be notified via email to buy the item at a special discounted rate that you have set. This is a great way to interact with potential buyers and establish a solid customer experience.
