Why are my returns being accepted automatically?

Even though your return policy has been set up by your rules, there are times when a return will be accepted automatically. These are the likely scenarios:

eBay auto accepts returns:

Under the eBay Money Back Guarantee, even if you specify ‘no returns accepted’, the buyer can still return an item if it doesn’t match the listing description (e.g. faulty, not as described).

Seller accepts returns:

  • When your return rules are set to automatically approve a return if the total refund cost is less than a certain amount (that you have pre-set).
  • When your advanced return rules are set to automatically approve a return when the predetermined total refund amount, return reasons (including change of mind/remorse)  and applicable selling categories are met.

When is a return not automatically accepted?

When your return policy specifies ‘no returns accepted’ and the buyer wishes to return the item due to change of mind/remorse.
